This book contains information on ASBESTOS USE in Buffalo Pumps.  There is a table that lists the packing recommendations for each service.  Asbestos packing is listed for most of the services.   It specifically describes what kind of asbestos is used for each service, for example, "White braided asbestos" or "African blue asbestos."

There is a table in the section entitled "Conventional Packing" which, as it states, is packing made out of asbestos. [See picture of table above, by clicking on images to enlarge them. ]
