Asbestos References:
The chapter entitled, "Plumbing, Water Treatment, Heating Plants, and Cooling Systems" says that you may work with or help the Utilitiesmen and this chapter mentions asbestos-cement pipe:
- "Concrete, asbestos-cement, or plastic pipe are used in sewer systems where special conditions exist to justify their use; these materials are non-metallic and corrosion-resistant. Asbestos-cement and plastic pipe are also light and easy to handle."
- "Asbestos cement pipe is cut with a special cutting tool or a power saw."
Additional Information:
In the section on Insulation, Asbestos is not specifically mentioned, however it does say:
"Many insulation products cause eye, skin, and lung irritation, particularly those from minerals, such as spun glass. Gloves, goggles, respirators, and tightly buttoned clothing should be worn in this type of work."
