Jenkins Valves
Catalog 56, Copyright 1956
Hardcover, 295 pages.
Asbestos is mentioned on many pages in this catalog. We normally mark all pages with post-it notes, but the mention of asbestos is so common that we gave up on trying to do that. Pictured above are just some examples of how asbestos is mentioned. Long-fibered African blue asbestos is described as the packing material for iron body gate and nickel iron gate.
Near the beginning of this catalog, there is a page on installation and maintenance of valves. It describes the process of repacking valves and says, "An asbestos packing, well graphited and lubricated, is best for general duty."

CONDITION: Unfortunately, the following pages have been removed (cut out): 83/84, 91/92, 95/96, 99/100. There are also tan stains from glue residue to about 5-10 pages. It appears that someone used a section of this book as a scrapbook at some point. There were newspaper articles attached to those pages, but they have since been removed. The text is still readable. Otherwise book is in good condition.
