Asbestos Information:

- Asbestos Packing. Table lists symbol number for each type of packing. This includes about 9 styles that are described as containing asbestos.  The styles listed in this chart are described as "commonly used and readily understood types."

Asbestos Packing. Table of recommendations. This table uses the symbol number to specify when each type of packing should be used.  By cross-referencing the first table listing the symbol number for each type of packing, and then the recommendations table, it is possible to find out when the asbestos packings were used.

EXAMPLE: For Boiler Manhole & Handhole Fixed Joint, Steam Service, the style number 2410 is specified.  The number 2410 corresponds with "Spiral Wound Metal-Asbestos Gasket."

The recommendations table is on 2 pages, the first page is pictured below.

-  5 Illustrations of Bulkhead Flange with Compressed Asbestos Fibre Gasket pictured.

- Asbestos Sheet can be used to confine heat, mentioned in the section on "Brazing on a patch"
