This book looks to be one of the standard reference books on plumbing from 1950.  It is a comprehensive book covering many different topics, including pumps, water supplies,water-supply pipes, interior fire protection, drainage and vent pipes, valves, bathroom and toilet fixtures, heating, and much more.

There are at least a few references to Asbestos in this book. 

- There is an illustration of an "asbestos or rubber pipe jointer."

- A short paragraph on Asbestos-cement pipe. "In waterworks practice and sewerage, its use has been confined mainly to pipes in the distribution and collection systems" The trade names mentioned are: Century, Eternite, Roxite, and Transite.

- Asbestos is listed as one of the materials that are used with highly corrosive substances.
