Contains Johns-Manville Library impress. One of the things that makes this book interesting (and probably unique) is that there is an impress to a couple of pages that reads "Johns-Manville Research Laboratory Library." This appears to indicate that this book was in their library. Please see pictures of the impress above.
CONDITION: Owner's impress to several pages. Card pocket & price written to back endpaper. A few other typical library markings. Otherwise, very good condition.
ASBESTOS References:
This book contains text and tables listing when asbestos is recommended. There are a couple of paragraphs on asbestos in the "Joints, Gaskets, and Static Seals" chapter. The "Compression Packings" chapter has 7 pages that mention asbestos. This includes a 2-page table entitled "Typical Packing Types and Applications." There is also a table entitled "Material Selection by Duty" which lists asbestos for oil, petrochemical, refrigerants, acid solutions, chemical solutions, and soft general purpose jointing for applications with low bolt loads. In a paragraph about Acids and Alkalis, both Blue and White asbestos is recommended (see below picture for exact wording). There is also an advertisement for Kempchen & Co gmbh which mentions asbestos.
